Membership & Registration
Eligibility
The following persons are eligible for the Library membership:
Students
Registered internal undergraduate students and Registered internal postgraduate students
Staff
Members of the permanent academic staff , Members of the temporary academic staff , Members of the permanent nonacademic staff
Membership Registration (Membership form)
Registration of new students and issuing of library tickets usually take place at the beginning of new academic year; after the receipt of relevant information from the CINEC Library.
- Students registered to follow CINEC courses are generally eligible for membership.
- Membership Categories & Required Deposit
- General Membership – Rs. 00 (80% Refundable)
- Membership for Students preparing for Oral Exam – Rs. 5000.00 (80% Refundable)
- Lecturers – Free
- Eligibility for Borrowing
- General Members – 03 Books
- Lecturers – 06 Books for one month
- Visiting Lecturers – 03 Books for three weeks
Membership fees non-transferable.
- According to the course duration your Membership expiry date will be informed by the librarian.
- Members should return their books before the expiry date.
- Duration of validity of membership will be one year, maximum.
- We stock educational videos, certain CD ROMs & diskettes, which accompany books, but not for circulation.
- Every library member can access the internet only for educational purposes. Anyone viewing other websites will be removed from membership. If any one needs to view the mail box they must request permission from the librarian.
- Library membership cards are not transferable and must be produced whenever requested by the Librarian.
- A non-refundable fee of Rs. 100.00 will be charged to replace a lost student card.
- Members should produce their Library card with the Identification card to borrow library documents.
- CINEC Library reserves the right to cancel membership at its own discretion.
- Library membership cards, when lost, must be reported immediately in person to the Librarian.
Loan Period, Renewals and Fines
- The number of books one could borrow and the length of time keep them depend on borrowers membership category.
- A fine will be imposed for overdue Library books. The rates as given below.
Lending Section – Rs.50/- per day
- The normal loan period is, 02 weeks for students and 01 month for staff members.
- The loan may be renewed for a further period of two weeks if the book has not been requested by another reader. Renewals can be done via the librarian’s e-mail, in person or by phone.
- The librarian will keep your identity card when books are taken for photocopying.
- The Librarian may recall books at any time and the borrower must return books immediately when called upon to do so.
Overdue or recall notice will be sent to you when a loan period expires. You must respond such notices.
Loss, Damage, and Late Return of Books
- The books, Magazines, CDs, Videos, and Diskettes etc in the library are valuable. Users are obliged to keep them in good condition, and to return on time.
- A reader who damages or loses a book will be charged the cost of the repair, or replacement plus other expenditure incurred.
- When a book has been overdue for two weeks without renewal a fine will be imposed at a certain rate per week until the book is returned.
General Rules
- Food not allowed within the library.
- Fines are imposed on all overdue library materials.
- Silence shall be observed in and around the library area. Mobile phones, pagers and watch alarms should be switched to silent mode before entering the Library.
- Please keep your library card safely and ensure that you and no one else uses the it.
- The library will not be held responsible for the loss of any personal belongings of users kept in the bag rack.
- The library card should be returned after the final exam.
Clearance
- Members should obtain a “Clearance certificate” before leaving the CINEC Campus.

As it is essential for any student to obtain the Library clearance prior to the application for any certificate from the University Examinations Branch, it is strongly advised to obtain library clearance at the end of the final examinations. Failure to do so may result the inability to obtain Examination Certificates on time.

* Visiting lecturers are permitted to use library reference facilities and not allowed to borrow books from the Library.
